The Visual History Explorer (VHX) is an interactive spatial and temporal platform that provides unprecedented access and context to archival material concerned with the history of apartheid and the liberation struggle in southern Africa.
Video footage, audio recordings, documents, maps and photographs sourced from multiple archives have been accurately geo-referenced and located in space and time using the immersive Natural Knowledge™ mapping system. Freely available online, it provides an innovative and intuitive approach to research, fostering the emergence of new narratives and relationships in a true living archive.
